We hear you!

There are so many things that we’d like to say in response to your amazing comments and we’ll try to answer some of them here.

1. Our soon to be new owners:
We are fortunate to have an acquirer that sees the value of Cohuman. We still can’t say who that is, but like you ‘they get it!’ Frankly, after pitching Cohuman to literally hundreds of people, and getting a lot of “you have a cool product”, “this should be easy to finance” and other nice things said to us in boardrooms and coffee shops up and down the Bay Area, our acquirers were the only ones that stepped up and made us an offer.

2. What service should you turn to now that Cohuman is about to close?
Frankly we can’t answer that. There are a lot of great companies and services out there and some have proactively offered their services to you, but we built Cohuman because what we wanted simply didn’t exist. We’ve deliberately chosen not to censor or restrict your suggestions on Facebook, our blog and on our home page because we are hoping that you can advise each other. Believe me, I’m not sure what I’ll use after Cohuman.

Great companies close every day and Amy Wilson sums it up very nicely in her post: http://wilsoninsight.com/blog/the-risk-of-good-innovation/. We wish we were still up and running. We wish we could all keep working together as a team. We wish we could thank each of you individually.

Thank you all – Matt

How long do we have to wait until we can get access through the acquirer?

    Even the acquirer couldn’t say.

I support your decision. Like everyone else that commented, I think that Cohuman rules, but I can’t be too disappointed, because for you all that built Cohuman, this means business, and means financing your passion (Which rules like Cohuman rules). So I’m happy for you all.

It is a real shame that Cohuman cannot continue to run. We have have tried tracking our projects in a number of ways, however the ease of use that Cohuman provided meant that our team needed little training. I hope that there is another service out there that can match this. Is there anyway we can purchase a localised version of Cohuman to place on our servers? or can anyone reccomend a software that is close in terms of use? I have only liked the look of teambox so far

I second what Adam asks. Can we purchase a localized version of Cohuman? Clearly this would need to be from the acquirer, as they now own the copyright to Cohuman. (I also suspect this would be tough, as the back-end software is proprietary and being sold, of course, to the acquirer.) Additionally, please pass on this comment or advise the acquirers that they have a ready base of customers ready and willing to purchase localized installations or server-based subscriptions to Cohuman – now. While sometimes people can and do wait for favorite software to come back, as a person in business I can tell you that they should not wait too long to at least tell us (through you, if need be) their explicit intentions or risk losing a ready-made and passionate customer base, who are ready to hit the ground immediately passionately evangelizing for what is now their (the acquirer’s) product. (This is an priceless asset in business.) Importantly: are they acquiring Cohuman to be used for their own purposes, in-house only? Or will they make it available to the wider world again? If so, when will they do so? If they don’t know, do they know when they will know? When would that be? And, please, please, do not change the front end of the product – the crown jewel of its appeal – too much.

I agree with Gregory, as people transition on to a new task management platform they will be very hesitant to move back again. I can only imagine the aquirer has purchased the platform for their own ends or integration in to something existing.

We made the choice to move to Manymoon which seems to cover the necessary areas for task management.

FYI we’re switching to manymoon – there are still a lot of features I like better about cohuman but at least it’s free, integrates well with google apps, and has a good user interface.
